Training Opportunities
In Singapore, clinical investigators have several avenues for training and personal development. While searching for a training course, it is the responsibility of the investigator to ensure the training and the training provider fulfill the required criteria specified by the practising institutions, review boards and any other equivalent.
Duke-NUS Medical School’s Centre of Regulatory Excellence offers courses and workshops in clinical research, biostatistics and research ethics.
National University of Singapore (NUS) provides postgraduate and short courses related to clinical trials, research methodologies and biomedical ethics through its Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health.
Public healthcare clusters, including SingHealth, National University Health System (NUHS) and National Healthcare Group (NHG), including the supporting Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), offer training courses to upskill healthcare professionals. While many of these courses are primarily for their employees, some may be available to a broader audience.
Here are some links to training resources offered by the healthcare clusters and the IRBs:
Health Sciences Authority regularly conducts workshops and seminars on regulatory requirements and best practices for clinical trials.
For investigators who are looking for resources to train their research teams, SCRI Academy offers training programmes for Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) and other Clinical Research Professionals (CRPs).
- CRC Level 1 Programme: A training course that offers a comprehensive introduction to the on-site operations of clinical trials. It is targeted at CRCs with less than a year of experience.
